It's necessary to jailbreak your iPhone so it can run the needed components. This does not harm your phone and is reversable at any time. Use the instructions for MacOS X or Windows XP/Vista depending on your setup. Make sure you have iTunes v8.0 or greater before jailbreaking. If your phone is already jailbroken, then skip this section.

MacOS X

a. Click here to download firmware. Save this file to your Mac. Note: You can use this firmware or any other later version of firmware but the same file must be used in steps a and d.

b. Connect your iPhone to your Mac and when you get into iTunes, hold down the Option key and click "Restore". Then select the above file you saved to your Mac. Then let it restore.

c. Click here and download QuickPwn for Mac. Save the file to your Mac.

d. Install QuickPwn and follow the on-screen steps of the application to jailbreak iPhone. Note: Be sure to select to install Cydia.

Windows XP/Vista

a. Click here to download firmware. Save this file to your PC. Note: You can use this firmware or any other later version of firmware but the same file must be used in steps a and d.

b. Connect your iPhone to your PC and when you get into iTunes, hold down the Shift key and click "Restore". Then select the above file you saved to your PC. Then let it restore.

c. Click here to download QuickPwn. Save the zip file to your PC and then unzip the file to any folder.

d. Run the QuickPwn exe and follow the steps of the application to jailbreak iPhone. Note: Be sure to select to install Cydia.

NOTE: If you get an error "Application failed to initialize" when running QuickPwn, you just need to install the .NET framework to your PC here.

Now that you have jailbroken the phone, it's time to install the necessary components to run the software.

a. After jailbreaking you see the Cydia application in your SpringBoard on your phone.

b. Run Cydia, agree to any requests from Cydia. If it asks you to choose "developer, user or hacker" please choose "user". Then it will ask you to restart Cydia. Perform any updates that Cydia asks you to download which takes just a few minutes.

c. Run Cydia again.

d. Click "Search" at the bottom.

e. Search for "BossPrefs" and install BossPrefs.

f. Search for "OpenSSH" amd install OpenSSH.

g. Search for "MobileTerminal" and install MobileTerminal.

h. Restart your iPhone.

Now you will install a SSH client to your Mac or PC so you can connect to the phone to copy and install the actual Mobile Spy file. Use the instructions for MacOS X or Windows XP/Vista depending on your setup.

MacOS X

a. Download Fugu 1.2.0 for Leopard here.

b. Install Fugu 1.2.0 to your Mac.

c. Download the Mobile Spy program file to your Mac and remember where you saved it. To do this, click the link above in Safari. Then, when the window comes up with the funny looking characters, on the top menu, go to File > Save As. Then choose a location such as Documents or somewhere you will remember.

Windows XP/Vista

a. Download Windows SSH Secure Shell 3.2.9 here.

b. Install Secure Shell to your PC.

c. Download the Mobile Spy program file to your PC and remember where you saved it.

Now it's time to install the program to the phone using the SSH client you just installed. This section has screenshots to help guide you. IMPORTANT NOTE: You need to be connected to a Wifi network to perform these steps!

MacOS X

a. Start Fugu.

b. Start BossPrefs in your iPhone, and note your IP address inside "Wifi".

c. In Fugu, enter the IP address of your iPhone in the "Connect to" field as shown below.

d. Enter "root" for "Username". Note: in these instructions, don't enter the " symbols.

e. Click Connect to connect.

f. Enter "alpine" in lowercase for "Password" and click Authenticate.

g. After logged in, you see the current folder of iPhone on the right side as shown below.

h. The left window is the folder tree of your computer. Change to the folder containing the Mobile Spy program file you download in section 3 (package.deb).

i. Make sure current current directory of iPhone is "/" (Root) folder as shown below.

j. Upload the package.deb to "/" (Root) folder of your iPhone by right-clicking the Package.deb and going to "Upload".

k. Start the Terminal program on your Mac.

l. Issue "ssh" command to connect your iPhone via SSH.

m. Type: ssh root@YOUR_IPHONE_IP

n. Terminal is going to ask for your password, you give it "alpine" to pass. Now your screen should be similar to below.

o. After logging in, you should issue "cd /" command to change current directory to root directory.

p. Issue command "dpkg -i package.deb" to install Mobile Spy as shown below.

q. Now restart the phone! Then skip to Section 5 which is the final section and very fast.

Windows XP/Vista

a. Start BossPrefs on your iPhone, and note your IP address inside "Wifi".

b. Start SSH Secure Shell on the PC. The screen should be similar to below.

c. Connect to the iPhone via SSH (Presss QuickConnect in SSH Secure Shell).

Host name: IP of *your* iPhone
User name: root
Port number : 22

d. Enter password "alpine".

You will see:

e. Open the File Transfer by selecting "Window->New File Transfer".

f. On the left side of your screen is your PC. On the right side is your iPhone. In the white box next to the ADD button as shown below, simply type / and hit enter.

g. Upload/copy file package.deb to current folder of your iPhone.

h. Go to the command console of SSH Secure Shell by going to Window > New Terminal.

i. Issue command "cd /" to change current directory to root.

j. Issue command "dpkg -i package.deb" to install MS as shown in the image below.

k. Disconnect the phone from the computer and then restart the phone!
